-- SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT--

Please be sure to check here periodically for these special announcements.

The Jacksonville Chess Club is Starting a NEW Weekly Meeting!

We want to invite All Jacksonville area and surrounding area
USCF Rated Chess Players, all past members of the
Jacksonville Chess Club to come ...

Are You ...

Looking for some place to come work on your rating without traveling across all the state or the South-East?

OR ...
Are you just looking for a place to talk chess?

OR ...
Just looking for another player to bounce a new opening idea off of?

OR ...
Just want to learn a little more about the game we all love to play?

OR ...
Do you have a Teachers-Heart and you'd like to find a place to focus some of that energy to teach someone about Chess?

THEN WON'T YOU COME ON AND JOIN US?

The Jacksonville Chess Club is looking at starting a WEEKLY RATED Event where each player will play one (1) round (G/60) during the evening. This evening is looking to be on a Thursday night. It will be over a series of five (5) weeks for the first event. And then it will be repeated again as often as there is interest for this type of event on a continual basis.

The winner of this series will receive FREE entry into the next series of 5 rounds.
Second place will receive half off the price of entry into the next series of 5 rounds.

After the completion of the rated game, players will be free to enjoy
casual games with the other players in attendance and to discuss their favorite openings and defenses.

-- ALSO --

Periodically for those interested, perhaps on a monthly basis, we will run
a QUICK CHESS TOURNAMENT. We are considering looking at G/5 or G/10, maybe a combination on the same night, possibly with a cash prize if this gets established and is well supported by players;
But these details are fluid and YET to be worked out.

--- Stay Connected to the site for details. ---

-- An occasional QUICK CHESS TOURNAMENT will be opened to the
NON-RATED / NON-USCF Chess players of the Jacksonville and surrounding area
to see if there is further interest and support in the general Chess community for this type of event and to stir up membership and support for the Jacksonville Chess Club. --

LOCATION:
Piccadilly Restaurant; 5950 Ramona Blvd, just off of I-10 and Lane Ave.

COST:
There is no cost for players to come and play.
If we can get a continual number of interested players, we will run a free G/45 tournament for USCF/JCC members.

GENERAL FAQ's:
All players will need to be US Chess Federation members as well as Jacksonville Chess Club members to play in these JCC sponsored Rated events. Jax Chess Club Membership is described on the membership link on our web page http://www.jaxchess.org/membership.html and the USCF membership can be ordered and paid for through either the JCC club VP, Daren Dillinger, or the JCC club treasurer, Dr Don Miller, or directly from the USCF itself http://main.uschess.org/component/option,com_wrapper/Itemid,323/

If enough players show up regularly, we will be able to have separate class sections so that no one will have to play another player that is 400 or 500 + points stronger than they are. Players will be able to play within a relatively close rating bracket of each other.

So, come and support this effort each week as the JCC presses ahead to help us all enjoy the game of Chess more in a greater way!

Meal or Salad and drink must be purchased by players per management request
.
